Happy Earth Day!

This is the time when we need to take care of our Mother Earth the most. Shopping sustainable, green, recycled and reclaimed materials improves our Earth’s health and quality. At DIGS, we are committed to keeping that promise by providing products that are sustainable in almost every possible way. Like the Ojas Necklace and Blob Ring shown above, which are made from recycled Tagua Seeds in Colombia, or the Interlocking Tree Table made from 100% recycled wood. So get in the green mode and shop at DIGS to support sustainability, artisans and our Mother Earth!

Happy Birthday Gaea!

This is one of our favorite times of year, when we celebrate our designers and artisans coming together for social and environmental change. Working in sustainable, recycled or reclaimed materials reduces the environmental impact industry causes. Working with artisans using Fair-trade practices instead of factories preserves their craft traditions and gives them viable income which assists in alleviating poverty, giving them the ability to make better choices for themselves and their families.

Thanks for supporting Digs!

The goal was to offer retailers and wholesalers interested in importing from Egypt a cross-section or sense of the capacity and range these talented artisans have.

My inspiration was  the nexus between old and new. During this historical time of the Arab Spring, how can we take the traditional iconic patterns and wood turnings then fuse them with a contemporary forms and materials to imply the transition or change occurring around us. The carvings inspired by the henna tattoos of traditional Muslim Women, the inlay from mosaic patterns and the ancient Egyptian architectural proportions balanced with contemporary finishes, needs and dimensions.
